A printable is successful when it produces the expected result on the buyer’s printer. Clear dimensions and a tested file matter as much as the product mockup.
Export for the intended paper size
Offer the paper sizes you actually support, such as A4 and US Letter, and label them clearly. Check margins, bleed if relevant, font embedding and whether the design remains readable in grayscale.
Print the product yourself
Test at actual size rather than only viewing the PDF. Check cut lines, writing space and small text. Include simple instructions for scaling and duplex printing when needed, without assuming every printer uses the same controls.
Show exactly what is included
List pages, formats, sizes and editability. A flat PDF is different from an editable Canva template. Make clear that no physical product ships, and explain the personal or commercial licence included.
Deliver an organised pack
Use descriptive filenames and include a short readme. Consider a low-ink version when it helps the use case. If you stamp the PDF, test that the stamp does not cover functional areas such as writing lines or cutting guides.
Your practical action plan
- Prepare the deliverable. Keep an original backup and publish a clear version. List the formats, compatibility and licence scope before the customer purchases.
- Connect and test in Shopify. Map the file, link or key to the right product and variant. Use the appropriate standard, custom or scheduled delivery mode. Check a controlled purchase on desktop and mobile.
- Choose capacity and monitor it. Use catalogue size and expected monthly transfer to choose a plan. Track actual usage and support questions after launch, especially before a promotion.
Before you publish
- The product page matches the actual files, access and timing.
- A sample or preview reflects the product customers receive.
- The purchase, email and mobile access route have been tested.
- Compatibility, licence terms and support contact are easy to find.
- Capacity and costs have been checked against the current plan.
