A Canva template product usually delivers access to an editable design, not ownership of the original working file. The experience should help buyers make their own copy without changing your master.
Prepare the template and access link
Start from your original design and use Canva’s appropriate template-sharing workflow. Test the link from a separate account. Do not send an edit link that lets customers alter the master design for everyone.
Check the content licence
Canva has specific rules for selling templates and using Pro content. Its guidance permits Pro content in templates made for use on Canva through template links, subject to the licence. Check the current terms and disclose any paid features the buyer may need.
Deliver a useful start document
A short PDF can contain the template link, duplication instructions, font notes and support contact. Put compatibility and required Canva access on the product page as well. A watermark on the PDF does not make the linked template impossible to share.
Maintain the customer copy
Test every link after a significant template update. Explain whether customers receive updates automatically or need a new copy. Keep versions organised so a support request can be matched to what the buyer received.

- Prepare the deliverable. Keep an original backup and publish a clear version. List the formats, compatibility and licence scope before the customer purchases.
- Connect and test in Shopify. Map the file, link or key to the right product and variant. Use the appropriate standard, custom or scheduled delivery mode. Check a controlled purchase on desktop and mobile.
- Choose capacity and monitor it. Use catalogue size and expected monthly transfer to choose a plan. Track actual usage and support questions after launch, especially before a promotion.
