The cheapest workable setup is the one that delivers your products without hidden operational work. Compare app fees with capacity, order charges and the features you actually need.
Start from your delivery requirements
List files, licence keys, custom orders and scheduled releases. Add PDF stamping only if you sell PDFs, and API access only if you have a workflow that uses it. Buying an advanced tier for a feature you never use does not improve delivery.
Compare paid entry tiers fairly
BIG Starter is $9.99 with 15 GB storage and 50 GB monthly transfer. Filemonk Lite is $10 with 10 GB storage. LDT Starter is $8.99 with 15 GB and advertised unlimited bandwidth. These are different offers, not a universal price ranking.
Look past the monthly headline
EDP’s paid tiers include 100 monthly digital orders and charge $0.15 for additional orders. SendOwl also considers annual sales and order volume. Storage, transfer and extra-order charges can change which app is economical for your store.
Budget for the whole store
The digital-delivery app is one line in your costs. Keep Shopify subscription, payment fees, advertising, refunds and content production separate. Our revenue calculator uses editable assumptions so an example fee is never mistaken for your actual payment rate.
Your practical action plan
- Write your acceptance checklist. List every required file type, delivery mode, protection option and integration. Separate must-have capabilities from attractive extras.
- Test your own workload. Use the same product and customer journey across the shortlisted apps. Include your largest realistic file, a mobile download and an existing-order scenario if migrating.
- Price a normal and peak month. Use stored GB, transferred GB, order count and any provider-specific sales caps. Confirm the current billing screen and migration terms before committing.
Before you publish
- The product page matches the actual files, access and timing.
- A sample or preview reflects the product customers receive.
- The purchase, email and mobile access route have been tested.
- Compatibility, licence terms and support contact are easy to find.
- Capacity and costs have been checked against the current plan.
