PDF stamping can make a downloaded ebook less anonymous and discourage casual redistribution. It cannot make a PDF impossible to copy or guarantee that every leak is traceable.
Understand the deterrent
A stamp can associate a delivered copy with buyer or order information. Someone may still remove it, screenshot the book or share it privately. Use accurate language such as discourages sharing rather than piracy-proof.
Choose the information carefully
Use the minimum appropriate customer information for the purpose and explain the practice to buyers. Avoid placing unnecessary personal data throughout a file that the customer may legitimately display or print.
Test readability on the real PDF
Check pages with dark illustrations, small text and unusual dimensions. A stamp that obscures content damages the purchase. BIG’s documentation specifies an unprotected PDF for stamping, so test the delivery format before launch.
Combine protection with service
Keep reasonable download limits and a recovery path for genuine buyers. When a file appears elsewhere, review the evidence before accusing a customer. A watermark is one signal; it is not a complete investigation or access-control system.

- Choose capacity and monitor it. Use catalogue size and expected monthly transfer to choose a plan. Track actual usage and support questions after launch, especially before a promotion.
